How to Trade Your Imperial Week for More Vacation Possibilities
One of the biggest benefits of owning with the Imperial Hawaii Vacation Club is flexibility. Your Imperial week gives you a Waikīkī home base, but it can also help you visit another island, travel to a new destination, or stretch your vacation value even further.
The first step is to book your Imperial week with our Reservations Department. You can call 1 (800) 347-2582 or email resvn@imperialofwaikiki.com. Most exchange companies require a confirmed Imperial reservation, including your confirmation number and check-in dates, before they can begin a search. Once your week is booked, contact the exchange company you plan to use and provide them with your reservation information. If you are depositing with RCI, our Imperial Reservations Department can assist with that process.
RCI assigns deposited weeks a trade value number. This value is based on factors such as supply, demand, location, timing, and availability. Because Imperial weeks are in a highly desirable Waikīkī location, and all rooms include a kitchen or kitchenette, many owners have found that their Imperial week can trade well. Depending on RCI inventory, timing, promotions, and the exchange selected, some owners may be able to receive suite upgrades or even multiple vacation weeks when trading one Imperial week. Other exchange companies, such as Interval International or 7 Across, may also offer bonus weeks, upgrades, or special promotions. Since each company works a little differently, it is always a good idea to compare your options and choose the exchange company that best fits your vacation plans.
For owners who want to trade specifically to Maui, Kauaʻi, Hawaiʻi Island, or another neighbor island, it may be helpful to compare a smaller Hawaiʻi-based exchange company such as Hawaii Timeshare Exchange. They offer local options and also have an office on the second floor inside The Imperial building. A local exchange company may be able to offer more Hawaiʻi-focused options, depending on what other owners have deposited.
Owners who prefer to save their week for a future Waikīkī stay at The Imperial can ask about our Internal Banking Program. This program allows eligible owners to skip a year and deposit their week for future use at The Imperial. Current owners can deposit their week within the first six months of their use year and extend the time they have to use that week to two years beyond the original expiration date. Many owners also purchase an additional Imperial week so they can use one week at The Imperial and trade another.
